A blind* female friend of mine posted a note to Twitter lamenting that she never knows she is out of black hose or socks until she needs them. She’s going to a business meeting today and said she now couldn’t wear a certain dress. I IMmed her and said something to the effect that it seems like, according to the women at my workplace, pantyhose are being worn less and less and only by old women (there’s an unofficial rebellion against the unofficial dresscode requiring them). She didn’t reply yet, but it got me wondering. How do women know these things?
(I’d almost always choose to wear the hose, but what do I know)
I mean really, there’s some secret oracle of womanly fashion knowledge out there… right? Somewhere? Who decides it’s no longer necessary to wear pantyhose in certain situations, but still required in others?
- Obviously for both of us magazines are out.
